Silly Cyclists...Roads are for pedestrians

Thanksgiving Monday was spent by me by doing 3 things...The First was getting up after a Sunday Night thanksgiving dinner by helping myself to a piece of breakfast pumpkin pie.  The second was programming my PVR with all the sports I was going watch that day, like 2 CFL games, 2 Baseball playoff games, a Monday Night Football game, and a Vancouver Canucks away game in Columbus.   All in all, a day that my wife had no control over the remote.

And the third thing I had to do on Monday was go for a walk.  I consumed many calories the day before, and I was on my way to doubling that on Holiday Monday and I figured a brisk walk would be just the thing to keep up an illusion of health between my gorging of Turkey.

So off for the walk I go, and it's a lovely, calm day in the Hoof.  I seem to be the only person on the roads, save for a couple of joggers and a ginger cat.   I head towards Riverside Park and I'm minding my own business on Lampitt Ave, when a Cyclist speeds towards me from the opposite direction.

Now on Lampitt, they have road lines on the shoulder for a bike/pedestrian lane, and, used properly, create a space for both cyclists and pedestrians alike with a safe place to walk.

Well, this cyclists races towards me and when he's about 15 feet away, he starts yelling at me to get out of his way, and that the bike lane is for cyclists alone.   Keep in mind, its Thanksgiving Monday, there is no one else in the road, and the Cyclist has to yell at me for being in a lane both bikes and walkers share!!   He could have moved over 2 feet but no, he had to call me out for being a road hog (which I wasn't)

This is why I hate Cyclists...they think they own the road, they are arrogant, and they NEVER follow the rules of the road.  Don't believe me?   Check this out.

Being from the City, I used to see stuff like this everyday.  Before radio, I applied my trade as a NAPA Auto Parts dealer and I would constantly be battling with Cyclists over sudden lane changes, no stopping at stop signs and no warning when I opened my car door!

I didn't go as far as wishing harm on any of those arrogant jerks, but I did sometimes daydream about seeing a car door clip one of these guys during the heat of the moment.

And then, last night, I stumbled across one of the greatest anti-cyclist video I have ever seen.  This one happened in Africa a few days ago, and lemme tell ya, their bikelanes are INTENSE

Antelope - 1    Mountain Biker - 0.

I was kind of hoping for a moose to that to my cyclist on Monday...Oh well...Next time...
