The 2011 CMAsLast night, I was treated to a very special event called the CMA Awards. There's nothing I can really say except that it was fun. I had a great time, and I didn't even go...I was at home watching it on TV! As awards shows go, that has to be one of the best I've ever seen. It wasn't all gold of course, there were some hiccups. Namely the Faith Hill and Lionel Richie performance which were a couple of speed bumps on an otherwise great night.
I'm not too afraid of voicing my opinion on music. I know what I like, but I also know what I hate. Faith Hill's new song on the CMAs bombed. Not only did I think it was 3 mins too long but has it been 5 years since Faith Hill sang a song until last night?
It was obvious.
Her makeup artist must have just got off the set of the Walking Dead. and I'm pretty sure keeping the stage dark was the idea of the producers of the CMAs and not Faith...
And Lionel Richie? Lionel Richie? Really? the guy is 62, but in rock star years that's a million. he should be thinking about making sure Nicole doesn't start selling his organs on Ebay so she can still live the life of a 1%er....
But even with those two stumbling their way through the show last night, it still was a grand spectical. The opening skit with Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood and Hank Williams Jr. was amusing AND there were a ton of great musical acts as well. The tribute to Glen Campbell was touching, Carrie and Brad doing Remind Me was great, and Taylor Swift showed what she can do when she's not interrupted by Kanye West!
All in al, after that show, I felt like I needed a cigarette just to cap the night off. (I didn't tho...I don't smoke )
Here are a few of the Performances that really stood out for me! Enjoy!
