Abbey Road!

I'm a huge fan of the Beatles, and although they aren't Country, I've decided to dedicate my post to them.

One of their biggest albums was Abbey Road and I find that remarkable because when this album was being made, the Beatles were all ready on their way to breaking up.  Abbey road was ranked #14 on Rolling Stones 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Not only does the music make this album iconic, but the actual album cover is an iconic print in itself.   Everyone knows about the Beatles, walking across the street at a crosswalk on Abbey Road.  Just classic.

And many others have tried to duplicate it as well.  From everyday Londoners to cartoon characters like the Simpson's, or this latest attempt b the Peanuts Gang.

How'd they do that you ask?  Well, they aren't cardboard cut-outs...they are actually painted on the sidewalk...check it out:

So one simple album has spawned a million or so recreations of it's cover.  Try that with Micheal Jackson's Thriller Album....

Now how do people that live around Abbey Road feel about this?  Do they feel like a part of history or do the constant slowdowns cause by tourists annoying to them?  I'm not sure the answer, but check out this video of a day of the life on Abbey Road:

If you ask me, it just seems like a lot of traffic problems, but I'd do it if I ever find myself there...You HAVE to!

So there ya go...a little bit of fun on a crosswalk.  I'll leave you with one of my favourite pictures from Abbey Road.  This one was taken just before the 'Walk'.

It's awesome!

Talk to you tomorrow!

Jeff
